There are several Amtrak trains that stop in Mystic daily from Boston and New York. Amtrak stops more frequently in New London which is 15 minutes from Mystic by cab. For departure times call Amtrak direct at 800-872-7245.
The Groton-New London Airport is the closest to Mystic at eight miles. There are several flights from Philadelphia. Bradley International Airport is located in Hartford, CT which is about an hour away. T.F. Green Airport, near Providence, RI is about a 45 minute car ride to Mystic.
An enjoyable informative tour of Historic Mystic. Relax as we take you back in time, over the drawbridge and down the quaint streets along the Mystic River. Our narrated tour will take you by Captains' Houses & churches from the 1800's as well as stunning panoramic views of the Tall Ships. Of course no trip to Mystic would be complete without highlighting Mystic Pizza, the restaurant which inspired the 1988 romantic comedy debuted Julia Roberts and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Come explore Stonington Borough also called "The most beautiful seaside Village in New England." In this tour we will be combining history with Hollywood. We will tour through the historic village and make our way down to the Old Light House Museum and "The Point" with scenic views of Long Island Sound and Stonington Harbor. Our narrated tour will highlight the Nathaniel Palmer House (the discoverer of Antarctica), the last commercial fishing fleet in Connecticut, as well as the rich Portuguese and whaling history of the "Boro." Also featured on this tour will be filming locations seen in Julia Roberts breakout film Mystic Pizza such as the "Windsor family mansion" and "the Peg Leg Pub." We will continue our tour with Cannon Square, Water Street and Noah's which can all be seen in the movie, Hope Springs, starring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones.
